The theme this time is “belonging”. So grab the drawing tools of your choice and show us how you envison your own “place to belong” in your unique style!

The winners will be selected by popular vote among JMoF 2027 participants. (Participants may vote for as many pieces as they like.)

  • Gold Award: 1 entry each in the Analog and Digital categories.
  • Silver Award: 1 entry each in the Analog and Digital categories
  • Bronze Award: 1 entry each in the Analog and Digital categories
    • Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award winners will receive a special gift.
  • Participation Award: All Contest Participants
    • All participants who submit an entry will receive a special button badge.

Note: When sharing photos or videos on social media, please ensure that the winners’ faces are not visible or are blurred so that they cannot be identified.

Entry Guidelines

Application Requirements

  • Your submission must be furry art based on the theme of “belonging.”
  • Each contestant may submit only one entry per category. For works created by multiple people, only the representative (the main contributor) will be counted as the entrant.
  • Your submission must be original and unpublished.
  • Your submission must not contain any adult content or anything that may infringe upon the copyrights of third parties.

Use of AI Image Generation

  • All furry characters and furry-related elements depicted in the submission must be drawn by the artist themselves without the use of image-generating AI.
  • If you wish to submit a work that contains other elements created using image-generating AI, you must declare this at the time of submission. This information will be made public along with the work during the exhibition and voting period.

Artwork Guidelines

Digital Category

  • The size of the work must be A4 (210 mm x 297 mm). Both portrait and landscape formats are allowed.
  • If the artwork is digital art, please print it out for submission.
  • The artwork must be no more than 1 mm thick.
  • You do not need to frame your artwork in advance. The JMoF staff will provide the frames
  • Please write the artist’s handle on the back of the artwork.

Analog Category

  • Maximum display size (including the frame): 350 mm on the longest side Weight limit: 2 kg or less
  • Framing Required
    • A transparent cover (such as an acrylic sheet) must be attached to protect the surface of the work.
    • Glass Not Allowed.
  • Frames that can hold an A4-size work with a thickness of about 1 mm are available for use. If you choose to use one of these, you do not need to frame the work yourself.
  • A hanging cord must be attached to the back of the frame so that it can be hung on a hook.
  • The artist’s handle must be written on the back of the work.

Definitions of Analog and Digital

Artworks created using traditional media such as pens, watercolors, or colored pencils should be entered in the Analog Category, while those created using digital devices such as computers or tablets should be entered in the Digital Category.

How to Enter the Contest

After completing the JMoF registration process, please bring your artwork to the reception desk at the Artist Lounge during the submission period. For details on how to submit your artwork, please also refer to “How to Submit Your Artwork” below.

Note: Due to the size of the exhibition venue, the number of available entry slots is limited. Thank you for your understanding.

At the time of submission, you will be asked to fill out a form with the information below and submit it along with your artwork.

The artwork will be returned directly to the artist (or representative) who submitted it.

Note: The artwork will only be returned to the artist or representative who submitted it.

Any artwork not picked up during the designated pickup period will be discarded. Thank you for your understanding.

Notes

  • If the JMoF Executive Committee deems a submission inappropriate, such as for violating public order and morality, we may reject the submission.
  • If the number of people wishing to participate in the contest exceeds the maximum capacity when the Artist Lounge opens, a lottery will be held among those present.
  • Registration for the contest will close as soon as the number of entries reaches the maximum capacity, even if the registration period is still open.
  • For security reasons, we do not accept submissions from or return artwork to anyone other than the artist or their representative.
  • If you choose to use the frames provided, the framing must be done by the person who brings the artwork, in order to protect the piece.

Note: Frames will be provided by JMoF staff. (For digital works, you do not need to bring a frame.)

  • Artworks will be displayed by attaching a cord to the frame and hanging it on a perforated board using stainless steel hooks. If the shape of your frame makes it unsuitable for display, your entry may be refused.
  • If you intentionally provide false information when submitting your entry, we may refuse your future entries in order to prevent potential issues.
  • Entries found to violate the rules after receiving an award may have their award revoked.

Note: The JMoF Executive Committee is not responsible for any damage, loss, or theft of submitted artworks due to unforeseen circumstances.

Artwork Sales / Purchase

  • Artists may indicate that they are interested in selling their work in the contest registration form

  • When voting for artworks offered for sale, voters can include a personal comment, their desired purchase price, and their contact information, along with their vote.

  • After voting ends, artists are free to negotiate with the voter based on the purchase price offered and the contact information provided in the voting comment.

Note: We recommend completing the transaction in person during the JMoF event.

Note: The JMoF Executive Committee will not be involved in the process or outcome of any sales transaction between the artist and the voter, other than to provide the artist with the information submitted by the voter regarding the desired purchase price and contact information.
