Terms of Participation

Note: The following is a translation from the original Japanese document. We have taken great care in the translation; however, the original document will take precedence in the event of any discrepancies in content.

In order to ensure that registered participants (“convention attendees”) of Japan Meeting of Furries (JMoF) can fully enjoy the convention and to continue hosting and managing the event in the future smoothly, The JMoF Executive Committee (“this committee”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) has established terms of participation (“these terms”).

These terms are broadly divided into two parts: the “Rules of Conduct” that we ask you to follow when attending the JMoF at Hall A and the meeting rooms area (“within the event area”) of the Aichi Sky Expo (Aichi International Exhibition Center, or “convention venue”), and the “Terms and Conditions” that have rules regarding what this committee, its members, and our assistant staff (“staff”) offer. Please read and understand the following rules carefully before attending the convention.

Rules of Conduct

General Rules

• Inside the event area, please always wear your own JMoF con-badge on the front of your body where it can be easily seen by others.

Note: For details on wearing your badge when wearing any type of mascot costume or cosplay, including fursuits, please see the “Policies for Clothing and Changing” section.

• Please do not gather in large numbers and block the walkways inside the event area.

Note: For the general rules within the airport island but outside the event area, please see the “General Rules for Outside the Event Area” section.

• “Policies for Clothing and Changing” applies to every case of changing into or out of any clothes/costume, or when changing accessories. For details, please see the “Policies for Clothing and Changing” section.
• For the recording and publication of photos and videos (live streams included) and the publication of event information (and content), the policies from “Policies for Photo/Video Taking and Information Disclosure” have been applied. For more details, please see the “Policies for Photo/Video Taking and Information Disclosure” section.
• Please pay close attention to your health and act appropriately based on your condition.
  • For JMoF’s sanitary management, “regulations regarding countermeasures against the spread of virus” have been applied. For more details, please see the “Regulations Regarding Countermeasures Against the Spread of Virus” section.
• Please do not use any venue facilities or equipment for purposes other than their intended use.
• Please do not use drones for any purpose, including photography, inside or outside the convention venue.
• If you see an unattended package or bag in the event area, do not touch it and report it to staff immediately.
• If it is deemed by staff, volunteers, security, or convention venue employees that a convention attendee’s actions constitute a hindrance to operations, instructions will be given. Please promptly abide by them.
• In the event of an emergency, please follow the instructions of the convention venue staff, police, or firefighters.
• In addition to the above rules, please comply with all laws and regulations.

Harassment

• This committee does not tolerate any form of harassment in communication related to JMoF, whether it’s physical, verbal, sexual, or otherwise.
• Please ask for permission before taking a photo/video of someone, interacting with a fursuiter, etc., and be polite.
• Remember that no means no. You must stop any behavior when people tell you to.

Eating and Drinking

• In general, please eat and drink only inside the designated areas.
  • In one corner of the event area, a designated food and beverage section will be provided.
  • Inside the changing room and the Headless Lounge, you will be able to bring in and drink beverages only in containers that are able to be fully sealed (but eating is still not allowed).

Note: There is no plan to install a water dispenser inside the Headless Lounge.

• For dealers in the Dealer’s Den, you will be able to eat and drink only while inside your booth. Drinks must be in containers that are able to be fully sealed. Please do not eat or drink outside of your booth. (Regular convention attendees are prohibited from eating and drinking in the Dealers’ Den.)
• For those events where partial or full permission is given for eating and/or drinking, please refer to the notices of each respective event.
• Beverages in sealable containers may be consumed unless otherwise prohibited; however, please be aware of your surroundings.
• Throughout the convention, certain areas may be designated where eating and drinking are partially or fully prohibited. Please follow the instructions of staff and volunteers.

Note: More details on allowed areas for eating and drinking will be announced at a later date.

Belongings

• Please do not leave your personal belongings or garbage anywhere within the convention venue. Neither we nor the convention venue will be responsible for any trouble relating to lost, stolen, or damaged belongings.
• As a general rule, bringing the following items into the convention venue is prohibited:
  • Anything prohibited by law to possess or carry, or those highly likely to be deemed a crime
    • Any model weapons (model guns, replica swords, mock explosive substances, and similar items)
  • Pet/companion animals (with the exception of service animals for any disabled staff or attendees)
  • Besides the above, anything that the staff has deemed dangerous

Other Convention Venue Rules

• Smoking is prohibited in general on the convention venue premises. If you wish to smoke, please be sure to do so only inside designated smoking rooms/booths.
• 5 GHz Wi-Fi is not available on the convention venue premises. However, free public Wi-Fi is accessible inside the convention venue.
• The power outlets in the convention venue are generally not for public use; however, some exceptions may apply in designated areas. For details, please refer to the notices and signs at each location and follow the instructions of the staff in charge.

General Rules for Outside the Event Area

• Please do not block the pathways with performances, photography, or other activities on the airport island, excluding the event area (hereafter: “outside the event area”).
• Please do not carry anything that is illegal to possess or carry, or is highly likely to be considered a crime, even outside the event area.
  • Carrying model weapons, model guns, swords, mock explosive substances, or similar items is also not allowed.
• Please do not invite or allow unregistered guests onto the guest floors or into hotel rooms for any purpose, such as changing clothes or taking pictures.
• Remember that there are other guests not attending JMoF who are staying at the hotel. Please keep noise to a minimum at night.

Policies for Clothing and Changing

At JMoF, as long as they follow the Rules of Conduct and the Policies for Clothing and Changing, there are no special restrictions on the content or types of costume or cosplay, including fursuits (hereafter “costume”). Please be aware of the following rules and enjoy the convention.

Clothing Rules

• Attendees may not dress in any clothing, costumes or fursuits that are overly revealing or inappropriate for the atmosphere of the convention.
• Please make sure anything you wear or carry does not cause harm to other attendees or damage to the convention venue’s facilities.
• Please always wear your own JMoF con-badge on the front of your body where it can be easily seen by others when wearing a costume, whether inside or outside the event area.
• Upon request by security, convention venue staff, or police officers, please promptly remove anything covering your face (such as costume head parts) so they can verify your identity.
• Please be sure to get plenty of rest so you’re in your best condition and can fully enjoy the convention, especially when you’re wearing a costume. If you start to feel unwell, do not push your limits and please take off your costume as quickly as possible.

Rules for Costumes Outside the Event Area

• You can walk on the sidewalk between Toyoko Inn Chubu International Airport No.2 (hereafter “official hotel”) and the convention venue in costume.
  • Please do not enter Toyoko Inn Chubu International Airport No. 1 while wearing a costume.
• You can board the shuttle bus between the official hotel and the convention venue in costume.
  • You are not permitted to board the shuttle bus between Toyoko Inn Chubu International Airport No.1 and 2, and the Chubu International Airport (Centrair) in costume.
• You can move inside the official hotel while wearing a costume, including the hotel’s elevators and escalators.
  • In addition to the preceding paragraph, please promptly follow any instructions from the official hotel employees.
• Please do not enter any areas other than those mentioned above, especially the airport, the airport accessway (2nd floor), and the high-speed boat terminal while wearing a costume.

Changing into Your Fursuit/Costume

• Do not change clothes in any public place, such as walkways or restrooms, regardless of whether you are inside or outside the event area.
• Please change clothes in the following areas:
  • This restriction does not apply to putting on or taking off parts of the costume, such as the head or hands. Please do so at your own discretion, ensuring you do not inconvenience others.

Changing Room

• Those who have registered themselves to use the changing room can use the changing facilities set up inside the convention area. In this case, please check the terms and conditions of the changing room.
• For those who did not register themselves to use the changing room, there are no plans to prepare other changing facilities located inside the convention area.

Guest Rooms of the Official Hotel

• If you are staying at the official hotel, you can change inside your hotel room. In this case, please check the official hotel’s accommodation terms and conditions.
• If you need to change before check-in or after check-out, please use the changing rooms written above or the areas listed below.

Other Areas

If you are not using the changing rooms or official hotel rooms, please prepare a place to change by yourself, such as changing in your car parked in the convention venue (Aichi Sky Expo) parking lot.

• Please be aware of your surroundings when changing in these locations.
• In the airport’s parking lot, changing clothes or moving around in costume is not permitted.

Policies for Photo/Video Taking and Information Disclosure

Photography and Information Disclosure Rules

• Under no circumstances is photography, filming, or other recording allowed inside the Headless Lounge, the changing rooms, or the restrooms.
• Both inside and outside the event area, some people do not wish to appear in photos or videos. If you are taking any photos or videos or making public any information (including live streams), please be careful not to infringe on others’ rights.
• In Hall A, many events will take place in an open space with few walls or partitions. Depending on the event’s content, photography and filming in Hall A may be partially or fully restricted.
• Additionally, each event has its own rules regarding taking photos or videos (including live streams), sharing them publicly, and publishing details about the program. Please refer to the notices and signs of each respective event, and obey the instructions given by the event coordinators in each event.

Liability Waiver

• On the days of the convention, photos and videos will be taken in various places. Please be aware that there may be cases where you are unintentionally captured in these photos or videos.
• We are not responsible for any trouble that may arise from any photographs, videos, or event contents that are publicized.
• Inside/outside the event area and at all events, staff may take photos or record video for documentation purposes.
• The photos and videos taken by staff (including the photo booth) may be released publicly as promotional pictures or other materials.

Regulations Regarding The Countermeasures Against the Spread of Virus

In order to facilitate smooth operations of JMoF while preventing the spread of infection, regulations and policies regarding countermeasures for infection prevention have been established by us. Please review the items below.

• When participating in JMoF, please thoroughly practice the infection prevention countermeasures whether before or during the convention period.
• If you have symptoms such as a fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, and so on, please refrain from coming to the venue or participating in the convention.
• Please wash and disinfect your hands appropriately.
• Wearing a mask is basically left to individual discretion. Please do not force others to wear or not wear masks.

Terms and Conditions

Registration

JMoF can be attended by anyone as long as they have an interest in furries/kemono. In order to attend JMoF, you are required to register.

• There are two types of registration methods: pre-registration and on-site registration. There are also different types of participation tiers, which differ in terms of participation fees and benefits.
• Registration for the Changing Room, Dealer’s Den, and Dead Dog Party, and hotel reservations are not included in the JMoF registration. Please also note that the fees for these services are not included in the JMoF registration fee.
• Minors (under 18 years old) are welcome to participate in JMoF. However, in addition to the JMoF rules and regulations, you must abide by all laws and regulations that apply to youth (under 18) and minors. In particular, please pay attention to the following:
  • Please get permission from your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to attend JMoF.
  • When registering for JMoF, please provide your parent or guardian’s emergency contact information (phone number).
  • When attending JMoF, please ensure that you carry documentation or other information that enables confirmation of your parent or guardian’s emergency contact details.
  • Children aged 12 or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend. The accompanying parent or guardian must complete the convention registration for both the child and the parent or guardian.

Note: All registration materials for registered minors/children will be handed out at the JMoF Registration Desk on the days of the convention. For details, please see the “About Picking Up Your Con-Badge and Other Materials”.

• At the Dead Dog Party, those 19 years of age or younger are strictly prohibited from participating in this event or entering the hall. For more details, please see the “Dead Dog Party” page.

Liability Waiver

In General

• Except for liabilities put forth by Japanese law, we and our staff will not be responsible for any damage done by or to convention attendees inside or outside the event area.

Note: For more information on us, please see the “Executive Committee” page.

• Convention attendees and others involved must immediately pay for any damages caused to the venue facilities, equipment, or other items, whether it is intentional or negligent.
• We and the convention venue will not be responsible for any trouble relating to lost, stolen, or damaged items.
• For the liability waiver associated with the recording and publication of photos/videos (live streams included) and the publication of event information (and content), please see the “Policies for Photo/Video Taking and Information Disclosure” section.

Dealer’s Den

• Under no circumstances shall we be responsible for any physical injuries or property damage incurred by dealers or associated individuals.
• We do not take any responsibility for disputes between dealers and their customers over merchandise or services provided by the dealers. Dealers must pay for the costs and take responsibility for such disputes without involving us.

Artist Lounge and Art Contest

We will not take any responsibility for the process or outcome of any sales transaction of a product or service between the dealer (creator) and the buyer (with the sole exception of providing a means of contact for each).

Other

In addition to the above, separate liability waivers may be established for services or things we provide. For more details, please check the liability waivers of each respective event.

Room Reservations

• Hotel reservations (including those at the official hotel) are separate from the JMoF registration and must be arranged by convention attendees on an optional basis. We do not accept hotel reservations.
• For those who wish to stay overnight at a hotel, please follow the directions on the “Room Reservation” page and book directly with the hotel on your own.

Registration Payment/Refund/Cancellation

• The “Registration Payment/Refund/Cancellation” polices are determined by the (Information Complying with the Japanese Specified Commercial Transactions Act). For details, please see the “Registration Payment/Refund/Cancellation” page.
• For cancellation of an event application, please contact each respective event coordinator, or contact us through the “Contact Us” page.

Privacy Policy

A “Privacy Policy” has been established. For more details, please see the “Privacy Policy” page.

Penalties against Violations

If we discover any attendee or actions of an attendee that may bring about harm to us, our staff, other attendees, the convention venue employees, or the general public, we reserve the right to employ the measures written below to minimize the impact to the greatest extent possible.

• If there is a possibility that an attendee has violated these terms, we may investigate and take action against the violation.
• We will take the following actions against any attendee who has violated these terms and has either brought about or is liable to bring about substantial damages to this convention’s operations or the management of JMoF (hereafter “violator”):
  • Violators will have their convention participation eligibility revoked immediately.
    • Violators must return their con-badges and related items (convention goods excluded) to us.
    • Violators must forfeit any right to claim a refund on any paid fees, such as the registration fee.
    • If violators are inside the venue, once the above actions have been taken, they must leave the premises immediately.
  • Violators will not be permitted to participate in any events hosted by us for a certain period of time.
• Only in cases where we determine it is for the good of the public interest, we may disclose the details of actions taken against violators. Note that this will not extend beyond what is defined in the Privacy Policy. For details, please see the “Privacy Policy” page.

Other Terms

Besides what is written above, there may be detailed regulations in place for what we offer. For more details, please check each respective notice section.

Additional Provisions

• If there is a change in the requests or guidelines from the government and local entities, there is a possibility these regulations will be revised without prior notice. Convention attendees of JMoF will be considered to have agreed to the revised regulations by maintaining their registration status.
• Convention attendees have the responsibility to periodically check, sufficiently understand, and comply with these terms and policies defined here. Please register only after agreeing to the terms written above.
